Football Manager 2009 players can download facepacks online, enhancing the games by adding player images. Alternatively, users can create their own facepacks for FM 2009.
Like its predecessor, FM 2008, Sports Interactive's football manager simulation game, Football Manager 2009, allows users to add facepacks to the game's database. When in-game, if a user clicks on a player or staff profile, there is the option for a face to appear. By downloading FM 2009 facepacks and adding to the game, users can then put attach faces to 2009 players and coaches. Download FM 2009 FacepacksSI Games' Football Manager 2009 uses the same method for facepacks as the 2008 edition, so FM 2008 facepacks can be transferred to the corresponding folder for the 2009 edition. To find new facepacks, users simply need to search the web and Football Manager 2009 forums and downloadfacepacks to the My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\graphics folder. If it's not in place already, create it. For convenience, create a FM 2009 Facepacks folder within the graphics folder. Other graphics, like team and competition logos, may also be stored in the graphics folder along with facepacks. FM 2009 Cutout FacepacksOnce a user has downloaded cutout facepacks, they're ready to create their own. With Adobe Photoshop, its easy to create cutout facepacks. In Photoshop, one can erase in an existing cutout facepack and paste a picture of the new player. They need to save it as a PNG file to the location of the original face, under the new name of the player in question (for example, if one was replacing David Beckham's face to his most recent hairstyle, one could simply rename it David_Beckham.png). Creating FM 2009 FacepacksOnce the picture is saved, our budding facepack creator needs to open the config file in the corresponding FM 2009 Facepacks folder with notepad and copy the last line assigning a facepack (with the player's name and number) and paste it directly below. Next up is changing the name on the new line (in the above example, to David_Beckham) and adding the new player's unique ID. This is necessary in order for the facepack to work in FM 2009. To find the player's unique ID, users need to start Football Manager 2009, go to settings, click on display and sound, and check "show unique IDs" before finding the player in question and recording his unique ID, appearing just under his name. Once that number is added to the relevant line in the config file, saved, and closed, the facepacks are now ready to appear in Football Manager 2009. FM 2009 Facepacks To make FM 2009 facepacks that have been downloaded or created appear in the game, the user needs to go to settings, click on display and sound, and uncheck "use skin cache". They then need to check "always reload skin on confirm", and press "confirm". To test, they just need to find a player with a created facepack and make sure it's working. SI Games has seen to it that facepacks can be edited and replaced. Using the web to find existing facepacksor using Adobe Photoshop to create your own cutout facepacksis simple and enhances the game experience.
